The digital landscape is constantly evolving, and your homepage serves as the virtual front door to your business!
In this case study, we'll take you behind the scenes of a transformative homepage redesign project that revolutionized our client's online presence.
According to recent studies, visitors make judgments about websites within 50 milliseconds of landing on a page—making homepage design more critical than ever.
Our team faced the challenge of balancing aesthetic appeal with functionality while addressing Brandon’s specific pain points. Ready to discover how we turned an outdated website into an awareness powerhouse? Let's dive in!
Client Background & Challenges
BTC Marketing is a video marketing business focused on capturing business success through professional videography located in the Augusta area.
They have been in operations for 3 years now and have made great traction with the community entrepreneurs and the Black Business chamber here in Augusta.
Brandon Cobb founded BTC Marketing on the principles of: Being Bold, Pushing Through Obstacles, and Succeeding in Style
When Blue Palm Web Agency first looked at their website, we already knew where to start.
Brandon didn’t have a proper hero section for his website.
Brandon also had no clear call-to-action buttons anywhere on his website.
His main brand elements (color, font, and assets) were not cohesive in telling the same narrative.
Key Issue
Without these 3 important trust signals on websites, the bounce rate (the amount of times people leave without taking action.) is much higher. With that being pointed out, Brandon immediately hired Blue Palm Web Agency to go to work for him.
Design Process & Methodology
Without a cohesive brand strategy, any changes we made to the website would still look out of place.
The first and most important step to any web design project is making sure that the site styles are all in sync.
The fonts need to highlight the mood of the business, the color scheme should stay consistent, and the assets (images and videos) should add professionalism to the brand.
Brandon’s website had both amazing photographs and fonts, but his color scheme was inconsistent which caused his website to feel unorganized.
We decided to base his brand colors on his new logo that he was proud to show off.
Using the 50-30-20 rule we could create a website style that was sleek, and professional.
Our Strategic Approach
We designed a Layout Wireframe that would be quick and efficient for getting Brandon results.
Hero Section - This is the screen that visitors will see first on the website and get their first impression. The Hero section can make or break whether a customer buys from you or not.
Portfolio - The Portfolio section showcases all the latest work by the organization and builds social proof in order to gain trust from the visitor.
About Us - The About Us section really spells out what the business values, and why the target audience will resonate with the business.
Call-To-Action (CTA) - The Call-To-Action section is used to help the potential customer take action after getting an understanding for the business. Successful Calls-To-Action result in profits or exposure for the business.
We proceeded to work down the list and reconstructed his Hero section. A Hero section is the main headline in a website, and the first impression your potential customer will see of your business. A hero section should cover the 4 W’s:
Who Owns The Website
Who Does The Business Serve
Where Can I Go To Work With The Business
Why Should I Work With The Business
At first glance this may seem challenging, but many businesses execute hero section design flawlessly.
When designing this hero section for BTC Marketing, our team thought about how to make the business’s personality stand out. BTC Marketing has a no-nonsense, bold approach to video marketing and life which is the same for their ideal customer.
They have a trademarked tagline: “GRIND THROUGH IT ALL.” ®
We wanted to incorporate elements of that tagline into the hero section in order to grip the attention of business owners that visited his site. We also had to make sure they knew exactly what BTC Marketing did as a service so we added “Stand Out with Next-Level Video Marketing.”
Just by implementing these two elements we had already answered: Who does the business serve and Why Should I Work With The Business (See? not so hard.)
We just needed to answer the remaining questions to create an amazing first impression with prospective customers. This is where the updated header section, and call-to-action button came in.
The header (or navigation bar) is the full navigation of the website as well as the primary residence of the organization’s name or logo. This establishes professional ownership and indicates to visitors who’s website they are browsing.
A call-to-action button in both navigation bar and the main hero section are the most important part of the perfect hero section formula it doubles the odds of a person taking action.
The call-to-action button is the gateway to getting a subscriber, a payment, or a sign-up. If the call-to-action button is not above-the-fold (what viewers see before they scroll down the website.)
The chance of getting engagement goes down significantly if the call-to-action is below-the-fold. According to a google study, it goes down by 28%. Which is a risk we do not want to take in business.
Next was the Portfolio section, Brandon already had professional portfolio pieces which made showcasing his work too easy. We implemented a simple gallery on his site that would cycle through his best work from over the years.
The only add-on needed for this gallery was a nice fitting header. Establishing credibility is key on the internet so we added “Projects That Help Our Customers Grow!” in order to show that Brandon was transforming other businesses.
With that being done, we moved on to the About Us section. The About Us section brings the human element to the business. It showcases what the business believes in and creates a sense of relatability.
We kept the same layout, but added more to the story. We also made sure the grid was aligned and optimized the copywriting for credibility.

The difference is clear, but it didn’t take long to make this section more professional. Sometimes, it’s not the content of the section that makes it look unorganized. Attention-to-Detail can go a long way when it comes to web design (your layouts should create a sense of uniformity.)
Lastly, we finished up with his new CTA section. The old CTA section was to sign up for a newsletter that (surprise, surprise) didn’t exist! The last thing we want on a website is a link that leads to nowhere. This doesn’t lead to engagement or buy-in.
We redesigned his CTA section and created a better way to take action in his business. Instead of “Stay In Touch”, we used “Schedule A Meeting.” Not only did this add to the professionalism of his site, but it also asked the customer, “Will you work with us?” one more time before they conclude their visiting session.

Results & Impact
After the project, we came back to Brandon with the fully finished homepage! He was super pumped about the changes made and was even thinking of some tweaks he wanted to make himself. Not only did he enjoy it, but he also told his mentors and work partners about the new homepage. They said they loved the upgrade.
As for performance, his website saw a jump of 20+ unique visitors in the same month! (decent results for a small tweak in strategy.)
BTC Marketng analytics from the last 30 days.
The traffic that he gained was from his new-found confidence in his digital presence. He sent more people to his website in order to begin working with him. There were also people who searched through google and found the keywords we added to the new homepage.
A small redesign can lead to big earning potential in a business. Never underestimate the power of professionally optimized website. Take a look at the actual website here: https://btcaams.com
